The parent dashboard is a separate React application inside the EduMAS AI product system. It uses the same Supabase project as the student app so accepted links, profile progress, and assignments can move between parent and child experiences.

Parents can sign up or sign in with email and password, and the portal also supports Google authentication. After authentication, the portal creates or updates a parent profile record with name, email, avatar information where available, auth provider, and last sign-in time.

The dashboard home shows linked children. For each active child, it can display name, class, board, quiz count, worksheet count, sample paper count, average percentages, and recent activity. Parents can open a child detail page for charts, tables, and assignments.

The child detail page includes performance by subject and separate result tables for quizzes, worksheets, and sample papers. It also shows assigned tasks with status values such as pending, seen, and completed.

Parent Child Linking

The linking system is consent-first. Each student profile receives a unique Student ID. Parents use that ID in the parent portal to look up the correct student. The lookup returns limited identity fields such as name, grade, board, and avatar so the parent can confirm the match before sending a request.

A new link starts with pending status. The student app watches for pending requests connected to the signed-in student. When a request appears, the student sees the parent's name or email and can accept or decline. Accepting marks the link active and records the accepted time. Declining marks the link rejected.

Only active links are treated as connected children in the parent dashboard. This prevents a parent from immediately viewing progress just because they know or guess a Student ID. The child remains the gatekeeper for the relationship.

Students should accept a parent link only when they recognize and trust the person requesting access. Parents should ask the child for the Student ID directly instead of trying to guess it.

Parent Assignments

Once a child link is active, a parent can assign work. The current assignment system supports Quick Quiz and Worksheet tasks. The parent chooses a subject and chapter based on the child's board and grade, selects easy, medium, or hard difficulty, and can include a short note.

Assigned tasks are saved with parent id, child profile id, link id, task type, subject, chapter, board, grade, difficulty, total marks, status, assigned time, and optional parent note. Quiz assignments use a 20-mark shape and worksheet assignments use a 25-mark shape in the current implementation.

Inside the student app, the assignment popup shows the new task, subject, chapter, difficulty, and note. When the student chooses to generate the assigned task, EduMAS AI marks it as seen and routes the student to Quick Quiz or Worksheet Generator with the assigned context in the URL.

When supported completion logic runs, the assigned task is marked completed with score, percentage, result data, and completion time. This lets the parent dashboard move from assignment planning to actual outcome review.

Progress Tracking and Result Storage

EduMAS AI stores supported result data on the student profile in result buckets for quiz, worksheet, and sample paper activity. Each bucket keeps a count and a recent list of result entries. A result entry can include subject, chapter, board, grade, score, total, percentage, difficulty, and completion time.

The parent dashboard reads those buckets only for active linked children. It calculates averages, creates recent activity lists, and groups performance by subject for charts. The result history is intended to help parents see practice patterns, not to replace a teacher's assessment.

Progress data is most useful when students use the platform consistently. One score rarely tells the full story. Repeated chapter-level attempts reveal more about effort, confidence, accuracy, and improvement.

Privacy, Permissions, and Responsible Data Handling

EduMAS AI uses account-based access for protected features and Row-Level Security policies in Supabase for parent-related tables. Parent users can manage their own parent profile and their own links. Students can see and update link requests connected to their profile. Parents can view a child profile only through an active accepted link.

The parent-child relationship stores practical information such as parent id, child id, child unique id, child name, grade, board, parent name, parent email, status, request time, accepted time, and assignment metadata. This data exists to make linking, visibility, and assignments work.
